February 1, 1933 - June 6, 2017Lois Johnson, age 84, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, died on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at the Pleasant View Home in Albert City, Iowa.
Lois Mae Thomas, a daughter of Ray and Minnie (Everson) Thomas, was born in Spencer, Iowa, on February 1, 1933. She lived her youth in Spencer and graduated from Spencer High School in 1951. Next, she worked as at the J.C. Penney store and later as a telephone operator for a short time.
Lois led a very active life. On August 6, 1961, she married Everett L. Johnson at the Congregational Church in Spencer. Their union was blessed with four children: Linda, Paul, Carol, and Ellen. After acquiring a farm, they made their home in Sioux Rapids. A wonderful, loving, and supportive wife and mother, she worked alongside Everett on the farm. She enjoyed having friends and neighbors over for coffee and cake, shopping, and riding the grasshopper lawnmower. Indeed, she took immense pride in keeping her lawn looking nice. An energetic member of the First Lutheran Church of Sioux Rapids, she participated in the women’s ministries there.
Those left to love and cherish Lois’ life include her husband, Everett, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; her son, Paul, also of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; and three daughters: Linda, of Des Moines, Iowa, and Carol and Ellen, both of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; as well as other extended family members and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert Thomas and Claire Thomas; and two sisters, Mary Ann (Thomas) Foster and Raylene (Thomas) Jepsen.
Lois had a well lived life, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 10, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids. Burial will follow in the Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids. Visitation will take place on Friday, June 9, 2017, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is overseeing the arrangements.
