Sally Jean Kooker, age 77, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Monday, May 22, 2017, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

A daughter of Clifford and Dorothy (Hall) Shearer, Sally Jean was born on March 12, 1940, in Kingsley, Iowa.

Baptized at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kingsley and confirmed there in 1952, she attended school in Kingsley, graduating from Kingsley High School in 1958. She, then, continued her education at Westmar College in LeMars, Iowa, where she met the love of her life, Jack. On August 19, 1961, she married Jack Kooker in Kingsley. Subsequently, they were blessed with four children: Mark, Jeffrey, David, and Ann.

Currently a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake, Sally participated in the Catholic Daughters of America and served as the president of CCD. In addition, she worked as a Teacher’s Aid for the AEA, a job she very much enjoyed.

Among her favorite pastimes, Sally would include traveling, watching game shows, and eating out. She, also, enjoyed watching and attending sporting events and playing cards, especially bridge. Most of all, however, Sally loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Jack Kooker, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her children: Mark (Jana) Kooker, of Des Moines, Iowa, Jeffrey Kooker, of Poulsbo, Washington, David (Renee) Kooker, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Ann (Bob) Radvansky, of Emmetsburg, Iowa; her grandchildren: Taylor and Benjiman Kooker, of Des Moines, Iowa, and Jacklyn Radvansky, of Emmetsburg, Iowa; her brothers: Rex (Darlene) Shearer, of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Martin (Cathy) Shearer, of Luverne, Minnesota; and her sister-in-law, Shirley Kooker, of Spencer, Iowa; as well as many nieces, and nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Dorothy Shearer; her parents-in-law, Kenny and Lenora Kooker; and her brothers-in-law, Earl and John Kooker.

A Funeral Mass will be offered Saturday, May 27, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Kingsley, Iowa. Visitation will be for one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be designated to the Storm Lake Tornado Booster Club. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is overseeing the arrangements.
