Frieda P. Honeck, age 98, of Storm Lake, Iowa, formerly of Early, Iowa, died on Sunday, February 12, 2017, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.

A daughter of Herman and Anna (Vogel) Pagel, Frieda Pauline was born on April 5, 1918, in Wall Lake, Iowa. Baptized at Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake on May 11, 1918, and later confirmed on April 9, 1933, she attended school in Wall Lake, graduating from high school in 1936. She continued her education at the University of Iowa where she completed a Bachelor’s Degree in 1940. In 1950, she earned a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Colorado. On March 29, 1956, Frieda married Leon David Honeck in State Center, Iowa. Subsequently, they were blessed with one son, David.

Frieda began her teaching career in Boone, Iowa. Then, the family began farming north of Early. In addition, she, later, taught at the Crestland School in Early. A voracious reader, she enjoyed watching Minnesota Twins baseball as well.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, David Honeck, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her extended family; and friends. Frieda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leon David; and her siblings: Carl, Louis, Dora, Eliza, Ella, and Hilda.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Union Cemetery in Early. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is overseeing the arrangements.
