Elizabeth Ann Wheat
December 27, 1932 - January 28, 2017

Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Wheat, age 84, of Storm Lake, Iowa, peacefully left the arms of her loving daughter and family for her Lord and Savior on January 28, 2017, in Blair, Nebraska.

Liz Ann Hughes, one of five children of Harvey and Arlyne (Morgan) Hughes, was born on December 27, 1932, in Storm Lake, Iowa. She attended Storm Lake schools and graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1951. On January 24, 1953, Liz married her high school sweetheart, Dale B. Wheat, in the Storm Lake Church of Christ where she was a member. To their union, a daughter, Lori Arlyne, was born on January 28, 1957. Liz and Dale spent sixty-one married years together before his passing on February 2, 2014.

A homemaker and devoted mother and wife, Liz served as a deaconess in her church as well as on the funeral and flower committees. Moreover, she sang in the choir. She enjoyed staying in touch with her high school classmates and attended all their high school reunions. At certain times of the year, she would help out at BV Stationary with their print projects and collating while working private parties at The Harbor House for Doris Lawrence. She, also, had a passion for loving and caring for her two little Japanese Chin dogs. A collector of many different things, Liz loved to shop and spend as much time as she could with her daughter. She will, always, be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Those Liz leaves to celebrate her life include her daughter, Lori (John) and their daughter, Julian, of Blair, Nebraska; her sister, Charlotte Goff, of LaSalle, Illinois; and her brother, Don (Patricia) Hughes, of Le Mars, Iowa; as well as her nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her parents-in-law; her husband, Dale; two brothers, Dick and Dean Hughes; her sister-in-law, Gayle Sundberg; and her brothers-in-law, Dean Goff and Eldon Sundberg.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 11, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is overseeing the arrangements.
