The Reverend James Sanders
[March 18, 1949]* - November 29, 2016The Reverend James F. Sanders, age 67, of Minneapolis, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 29, 2016, after a long battle with Pompe Disease.
Called by the Lord to become a pastor, Jim dedicated most of his ministry to Oliver Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis. He was, later, led into executive ministry as Executive Presbyter of the Prospect Hills Presbytery in Iowa. He will be remembered for his creativity and woodworking skills, his welcoming and comforting manner, and most fondly, as a devoted family man and friend.
Preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Harold, Sr., and Hazel; his brother, Mark; and his sister-in-law, Diane, he is survived by Jo Ann, his loving and devoted wife of forty-six years, and their cherished daughters, Laurel (Tyler) Putman, Rebecca (Brent) Schott, Sarah (Ken) Madsen, and Anna (Dan) Schetinski; his grandchildren, Chloe, Elsa, Jack, Levi, Libby, and Trevin; two sisters; five brothers; and his faithful companion, Jester, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 10, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1200 Marquette Avenue, Minneapolis with a visitation beginning at 11:30am. Memorials may be made to Make A Wish Foundation or Can Do Canines.
