Carol was born on October 21, 1943, to Henry and Cora Nielsen in Storm Lake, Iowa. She made it a family of four when she joined her older sister, Janice. Baptized and confirmed as a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, she graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1961. Her favorite hobbies included gardening, cooking, reading, and decorating. She, actively, participated in Mark and Dawn’s numerous social activities. As a teenager, she traveled to Denmark to meet her grandmother and the rest of her father’s family, an experience she could never forget.
