Elaine Beth Floy, 50, of Owatonna, Minnesota, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at Mercy Hospital, Sioux City, Iowa.

A daughter of Richard and Doris (Paulson) Fondroy, Elaine was born on February 10, 1966, in Storm Lake, Iowa. She grew up on the family farm near Albert City, Iowa, where she participated in many activities including 4-H. She graduated from Albert City-Truesdale High School and later from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science. On May 26, 1990, she married Paul Floy at the First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

While they lived in the Cedar Rapids area, Elaine worked for Quaker Oats. In 1996, however, they moved to Hillsboro, Texas. In Hillsboro, she became an active member of Christ Lutheran Church and participated in many volunteer opportunities. After the family moved to Owatonna in 2008, Elaine continued to volunteer. A very involved member of Trinity Lutheran Church, she served as a Sunday school teacher and Vacation Bible School volunteer. In short, she made volunteering a very important part of her life. Most recently, she worked at the 26th Street Kwik Trip in Owatonna.

Elaine loved to run. She ran and exercised daily. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, traveling, camping, experiencing the outdoors, and gardening. A very caring mother, she loved her two daughters, who filled her life with the joy.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Paul Floy, of Owatonna, Minnesota; her daughters, Martha Floy, of Manhattan, Kansas, and Sarah Floy, of Ames, Iowa; her mother, Doris Fondroy, of Albert City, Iowa; her sisters, Susan (and Brian) Carstens, of Lino Lakes, Minnesota, and Amy (and Pat) Fondroy Eich, of Prescott, Wisconsin; one niece; and five nephews. She was preceded in death by father, Richard Fondroy, and her brother, Darrel Fondroy.

Visitation will be at the Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna, Minnesota, on Friday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and at Trinity Lutheran Church in Owatonna on Saturday from 1:00 to 11:00 a.m.. A Celebration of Life service will be held in Owatonna Saturday, September 17, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Reverend Todd Buegler officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairfield Township Cemetery, Albert City, Iowa. Memorials are preferred to Ingham Okoboji Lutheran Bible Camp, 1203 Inwan St., Milford, Iowa 51351.
