Ernest Charles Bosley
December 31, 1929 - September 24, 2016

Ernest "Ernie" Charles Bosley, age 86, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Saturday, September 24, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

Ernest “Ernie” Charles Bosley, a son of Claude and Nettie Kaufman (Gardner) Bosley, was born on December 31, 1929, in Albert City, Iowa. He, however, attended school in Storm Lake, graduating from Storm Lake High School in 1947. That same year, he joined the United States Navy and served his country during the Korean War as a radio tele-typist. He was honorably discharged in 1951.

Upon returning home from the war, Ernie married Helen Ann Connell on June 16, 1952, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Subsequently, they were blessed with six children: Kenneth LeRoy, Michael Charles, Kathleen Ann, Mary Kay, Thomas Joseph, and Teresa Jean.

Ernie will be remembered as a hard worker. He became the office runner of Kingan, the Pay Master at Hygrade, the Storeroom Supervisor at IBP and later at Tyson. In addition, he sharpened saw blades for Hygrade. In his later years, he enjoyed driving for various auto dealerships as well as serving as a personal chauffeur for many individuals.

A “perfectionist,” as his family would describe him, Ernie took meticulous care in maintaining his lawn and taking care with details on his vehicles. He loved pheasant and turkey hunting with his children and grandchildren. He, also, enjoyed bowling, roller skating, golfing, dancing at family events or gatherings, and riding his motorcycle, which led to his nickname, “Easy Rider.” In return, Ernie would give everyone else clever nicknames. Throughout his 86 years, he, always, put his family first. He loved watching his children and grandchildren participating in their various activities, but he, especially, enjoyed coming up with his own games such as “hide the chips” or slapjack. His one-of-a-kind personality will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish Ernie’s memory include his wife, Helen Bosley, of Storm Lake, Iowa; his children: Ken (Johanna) Bosley, of Abita Springs, Louisiana, Mike Bosley, of Aurelia, Iowa, Kathy Mummert, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Mary (Ed) Larsen, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Tom (Jodi) Bosley, of Sioux City, Iowa, and Teresa (Rick) Siewert, of Perryton, Texas; his grandchildren: Christa Furden, of Abita Springs, Louisiana, Chad (Melissa) Bosley, of Chicago, Illinois, Julie (Brian) Miller, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Sarah (Mike Bartling) Mummert, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Katie (Colby) Smith, of Lacona, Iowa, Molly (Nathan) Hippen, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, Halie Larsen, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Braden Bosley, of Sioux City, Iowa, Beau Bosley, of Sioux City, Iowa, Jennifer (Justin Buendia) Schwier, of Amarillo, Texas, Cameron Siewert, of Austin, Texas, and Caroline Siewert, of San Diego, California; his great grandchildren: Abigail Bosley, of Chicago, Illinois; Keegan, Kennadie, and Kale Miller, of Storm Lake, Iowa; Emery, Billie, and Brooke Smith, of Lacona, Iowa; Holden Hippen, of Iowa Falls, Iowa; and Landon and Case Buendia, of Amarillo, Texas; his brother-in-law, Dan (Linda) Connell, of Storm Lake, Iowa; and his sister-in-law, Dorothy (Jack) Hammer, of Springfield, Missouri; as well as extended family members and friends.
