Diane L. Schramm, age 68, of Alta, Iowa, died on September 9, 2016, at North Lake Manor in Storm Lake.

Diane Lucille Sundberg Schramm was born in Alta, Iowa, on May 3, 1948, to John and Lucille (Wigg) Sundberg. Baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, she attended Alta school, graduating with the class of 1966. Next, she enrolled at Iowa Central Community College in Storm Lake.

Diane loved going to movies, participating in the Red Hat Society, and playing “500” and Wahoo with her friends. In addition, she loved country music, and especially with Johnny Cash, George Jones, and Elvis performing. In 1978, she was, even, declared Iowa’s #1 Elvis fan. Moreover, she had a passion for traveling. Indeed, her travels took her to many places in the United States, Mexico, and Europe. She, especially, enjoyed her trip to the upper East coast with her brother, Gary, and his wife, Mary. Then, for her 50th birthday, her niece, Linda, gave her a ticket to London and Athens with a week-long Mediterranean cruise.

Diane worked at Duffy’s in Alta for many years while raising her three children: John, Todd, and Diny. On August 26, 1983, she married Roger Schramm of Storm Lake. She worked with him for twenty-six years at his business, Peterson Appliance, until they retired. They were blessed with eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and three step grandchildren. Diane loved being a grandma and great grandma.

Those left to mourn her death include her husband, Roger; her son, John (Kim) Edgington; her daughter, Diny Nelson; her daughter-in-law, Mary Beth (Len) Rozmus; her grandchildren: Nicole (Chris) Sexton; Chloe and Casey; Zach (Chantal) Rozmus and Lexy; Travis (Nicole) Edgington and Ryker; Tyler Edgington; Brandon Dlouhy and Jax; and Zane and Kole Hanson; her brother-in-law, Doug (Peg) Schramm; her sisters-in-law: Jan Sanders, Nancy Gordon, Mary Sundberg, and Charlotte Sundberg; and her siblings: Kenneth Sundberg and Sandy (Randy) Hogrefe; and her step grandchildren: Robby, Tommy, and Jazzy Briggs; as well as many nieces and nephews and a special friend, Helen Cameron.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Todd; her sisters, Elaine Walsh and Darlene Peterson; her brothers: Robert, Eldon, Ronnie, and Gary Sundberg; her sisters-in-law, Gayle and Marge Sundberg; her brothers-in-law, Floyd Peterson and Bill Walsh.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta, Iowa . Burial will follow in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will take place Monday, September 12, 2016, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
