Catherine Mary Menke
February 11, 1929 - September 17, 2016Catherine Mary Menke, age 87, of Hull, Iowa, formerly of Sutherland, Iowa, died on Saturday, September 17, 2016, at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.
A daughter of John and Mary (Kelly) Ruby, Catherine Mary Ruby was born on February 11, 1929, in rural Gaza, Iowa. On November 19, 1947, she married Clarence Menke in Worthington, Minnesota. Subsequently, they had two children, Wesley and Debbie.
In 1953, Catherine was baptized at St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Cherokee. Currently, she belonged to the Methodist Church in Sheldon, Iowa. In addition, she participated in the Women’s Club at the Methodist Church in Sheldon. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, tending to her flowers, and reading.
Those left to cherish her memory include her two children, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one great- great grandchild, one brother, and three sisters as well as extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister, her sister-in-law, and two brothers-in-law.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, September 22, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will precede the service at the Storm Lake Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
