Mary T. Flores, 67, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away on Monday evening, August 1, 2016, at Unity Point Health-St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa.

Mary was born on August 27, 1948, at Atwater, Ohio, to Damian and Estella (Neider) Craven. After graduating from high school, she attended college for a short time. She had been a resident of Cherokee, Iowa, the past twenty-one years. Before this time, she had lived in Alta, Iowa, for several years. She had worked for the Alta and Aurelia Newspapers and had been a sports editor for the Cherokee Daily Times for several years. Mary enjoyed painting ceramics, collecting small bears and chickens, playing cards and darts, doing puzzles, bowling, and watching football, wrestling and Nascar on the television.

Preceded in death by her parents, Mary is survived by her three children, Theresa (Tony) Anthony, of Cherokee, Iowa, Eric (Alma) Lucero, of Phoenix, Arizona, Cynthia (Dean) Sanow, of Meriden, Iowa; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas and Jim Craven; and one sister, Rita Otis.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, August 12, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Larry Ostercamp will officiate. Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 11, 2016, from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home. Mary’s remains were cremated.
