August 26, 1922 - August 9, 2016Golda Diehl, age 93, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.
Golda Marie Nielsen was born to Niels and Maren Marie Jessen Nielsen on August 26, 1922, in Cleghorn, Iowa. She attended school in Meriden, Iowa, and Cherokee, Iowa, where she graduated with honors in secretarial training.
She married Paul Carlton Diehl on May 1, 1941. To their union, three children were born: Michael, Jane, and Donald. Before Paul entered the service, they lived on a farm. Afterwards, they lived in New York City, Baltimore, and St. Louis. before returning to the farm in Storm Lake following the war. During her adult years, Golda belonged to the United Methodist Church, P.E.O., and several bridge clubs.
She is survived by her son, Michael, and his wife, Linda, and their three children, Todd, Troy, and Tia; her daughter, Jane Standley, and her husband, Don, and their three daughters, Katherine, Sarah, and Amy; her son, Donald, and his wife, Mary, and their two children, Abigail and Paul; and her brother, Robert Nielsen, and his wife, Alice, and their three children, Mark, Stephanie, and Jennifer; as well as by various nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and extended family members.
Golda was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul; her parents; her sister, Margaret, and her husband, Roy Schwen; her brother, Jens, and his wife, Marge; her sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Diehl, and her husband, Robert Diehl, and Doris Diehl Hanover; and her brother-in-law, Ernie Hanover; as well as by various nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Private family services will be held. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
