January 13, 1932 - August 14, 2016

Steen Boyd, age 84, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Sunday, August 14, 2016, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.

Steen Vee Boyd, a son of Frank and Velma (Steen) Boyd, was born on January 13, 1932, in Mallard, Iowa. He attended school in Newell, graduating from high school in 1950. During his high school days, Steen was a standout basketball player.

On March 3, 1951, Steen married Elayne Madison. Subsequently, they were blessed with four children: Randy, Craig, Mike, and Debra. Steen belonged to the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. A member of the United Food and Commercial Workers, he worked for Hygrade in Storm Lake for many years.

Throughout his life, Steen had a love affair with sports. In his younger days, he enjoyed playing fast pitch softball, and later, he became an avid bowler. A talented golfer, he, also, had a passion for that sport. Most of all, however, he loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Elayne Boyd, of Storm Lake, Iowa; his children: Randy (Marcy) Boyd, of Tucson, Arizona, Craig (Susie) Boyd, of Alta, Iowa, Mike (Trang) Boyd, of Carson City, Nevada, and Deb (Kevin) Jensen, of Iowa City, Iowa; his grandchildren: Alicia, Brad, Caitlyn, Carissa, Chad, Holly, Kelsey, Levi, Luke, Michaela, Rhett, Ryan, Tonja, and Tyler; his great grandchildren: Amyah, Ayanna, Bennett, Cael, Cameron, Carter, Carter, Drew, Gracie, Haidyn, Jordan, Kaelyn, Megan, Maddi, Orion, Parker, and Ruby; his sisters: Jeanette Galbraith, of Newell, Iowa, and Donna Henrich, of Spirit Lake, Iowa; not to mention Bob Ellrich and Joyce Madison; as well as extended family members and friends. Steen was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Frank Jr.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place Monday, August 15, 2016, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
