Irene Doloris Roberts
June 10, 1924 - July 30, 2016

Irene Roberts, age 92, of Yankton, South Dakota, formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at Avera Sister James Care Center in Yankton.

Irene Doloris Pratt was born on June 10, 1924, in May City, Iowa, to Melvin and Geneva (Nicola) Pratt. She received her education in Spencer, Iowa, graduating from Spencer High School in 1942. On May 14, 1942, she married V.E. “Barney” Roberts in Sioux City, Iowa. Happily married for sixty-four years until Barney's death in 2006, they were blessed with two children, Glenice and Kirby.

Irene and Barney founded and managed Iowa Office Supply in Storm Lake for many years. Because of their success in business, they were able to travel throughout the world. During all her travels, she met many new friends and immensely enjoyed the new experiences. In addition, Irene and Barney very much enjoyed their Arizona winter home until their health no longer allowed them to travel there. Irene, also, enjoyed collecting and displaying red glassware, thimbles, spoons, and tea sets.

Above all, Irene treasured her family and the time she spent with them. A loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she was soon to become a great-great grandmother.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Glenice (Duane) Olson, of Yankton, South Dakota; her son, Kirby (Linda) Roberts, of Storm Lake, Iowa; four granddaughters: Lisa (Jay) Jacobson, of Naperville, Illinois, Julie (Randy) Kuchta, of Yankton, South Dakota, Heidi (Eric Lewis) Roberts, of Urbandale, Iowa, and Andrea (Ben) Greenfield, also of Urbandale, Iowa; thirteen great grandchildren: Lauren, Alexandra “Alex”, and Drew Jacobson; Katherine “Kate”, Karly (Trevor Rueb), and Jack Schaa; Chloe and Sam Cooper; Hunter Riordan; Colby, Ali, Parker, and Cooper Kuchta; and Lexi, Laina, and Luke Lewis; a great-great grandson due in November; and her brother-in-law, Ted Pullen, of Mora, Minnesota; as well as many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Geneva Pratt; her husband, Barney; her brother, Clyde Pratt; and her sisters, Norene Jenison and Mary Pullen.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 5, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake where she had been a devoted member for many yeaars. Burial will follow in the Storm Lake Cemetery. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church.
