The Newell Mirror - Fri, Oct 24, 1890 - It was indeed with deep regret that we learned a few days ago of the death of our old townsman and friend, J.J. Rugg, which occurred at the home of his son, George at Los Angeles, CA on the 2nd inst. He was a find old gentleman and when he left Newell last spring for his new home on the Pacific slope, little did we or his many other friends here think that he would so soon be summoned to another and permanent home in that unknown beyond. Adieu, Mr Rugg, our citizens will long cherish your memory.
