Newell Mirror - December 9, 1880 - Died Friday Dec 3d, 1880 of dropsy of the heart, Elijah Day, aged 60 years. Mr Day was among the oldest and most respected citizens of Providence township and his loss will be deeply felt by the people of his acquaintance.

He came to this county in 1872 and although misfortunes in financial matters have often visited him and at times made prospects gloomy, still Mr Day has always sustained the reputation of being thoroughly honest and upright.

In Mr Days death the family have lost a devoted husband and father. The remains were deposited in the Storm Lake cemetery Saturday, whither they were followed by a large concourse of relatives and friends.
