STORM LAKE PILOT - Wed, Aug 23, 1871 - Died Aug 19, 1871 at Aurelia Station, Cherokee county of Cholera Morbus, Israel Orswell, aged 59 years, 1 month, and 29 days.

He has been a resident of Nokomis Township, Buena Vista county, since April 1870. The deceased was born at Warwick, Rhode Island, June 21, 1812. In early life he removed to Providence where in 1835 he was united in marriage to his now bereaved wife and in 1841 became a member of the Congregational Church in that place.

In 1868 in connection with his family he came to Iowa to make himself a western home and two years later removed to this county. He had passed through the ordeal of settlement in a new county. His family have four homesteads under cultivation and prospects for the future were bright. But truly, "In the midst of life we are in death."

Friday last he was at Aurelia with his sons, putting up a warehouse, worked all day, and appeared in the best of health. Saturday morning he was taken with violent pains and cramps in the limbs. Medical aid was immediately procured but so fatal were the ravages of his disease that when it was abated, he sank as in a swoon from which he never rallied.

He died at 9 pm of the same day. This is a sudden and severe stroke to the family. On Monday he was buried in the temporary burying grounds near Storm Lake from which he will be removed as soon as the new grounds are procured.

He is gone but his record is on high. As a man he was cheerful, benevolent and industrious. Though this loss to the family and large circle of friends is severe, yet doubtless it is his gain.
