STORM LAKE PILOT TRIBUNE - Apr 7, 1927 - Claus Peterson, a resident of Storm Lake for over 50 years, passed away Thursday morning at the Swallum hospital about 10 o'clock. He had been in failing health for some time and a couple of weeks before his death entered the hospital for medical treatment.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Fiscus Funeral Home at 2:30 in charge of Rev. J.A. Hurley, pastor of the Baptist church. The body was laid to rest in the Lake View cemetery by the pall bearers, Roy Samuels, John Munson, James Butler, A. Holmgren, Charles Biggins, and Mr Mack, all old time friends of Mr. Peterson.

Claus Peterson was born in Sweden in October, 1855. He lived there until he was about 23 years of age and then came to America and settled in Storm Lake, where he has since resided.

He was united in marriage to Miss Augusta Sandquist in Storm Lake in 1883. Four children were born to this union, two sons, Orvllle Peterson, of Spokane, Wash., and Walter Peterson, of Minneapolis and two daughters, Mrs. Bert Grilley and Mrs. Jack Finch, both of Spokane, Wash.

After coming to Storm Lake Mr. Peterson was engaged in county drainage and in other lines.

Besides his four children, he leaves to mourn, four grandchildren and a younger brother, who is on the old home place in Sweden. His two sons arrived to attend the funeral. His two nephews, Richard and Oscar Peterson of Alta were also in attendance.
