Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - Sep 26, 1935 - Funeral services for A.J. O'Donnell, former Storm Lake business man, were held this morning from St Mary's Catholic church. Burial was in Storm Lake cemetery.
Mr O'Donnell, who was 56, died suddenly Sunday afternoon. His only surviving relative, a brother who live in Indiana, was present at the service. For 16 years, Mr O'Donnell owned a café, selling the business a year ago to W.O. Gard. At that time he retired from business. Mr O'Donnell was a resident of Storm Lake for 27 years.
Albert Joseph O'Donnell was born at Streator, IL on April 2, 1879 and spent his childhood there. In 1908 he was united in marriage to Margaret Roby at Rockwell City. They came to Storm Lake the same year to reside and he had since made his home here. For some time he was employed in various cafes. In 1919 he purchased a café and owned and operated the same until 1934. He then leased the café to W.O. Gard.
He leaves to mourn his death one brother, Leon O'Donnell of Hammond, IN; a step daughter, Mrs Hazel Peterson of Storm Lake, a stepson, Cecil Roby of Hackensack, MN; three grandchildren, Bob and Mary Peterson and Margaret Marie Roby.
His parents preceded in him in death a number of years ago and his wife on Dec 14th, 1932.
