STORM LAKE BUENA VISTA VIDETTE - Oct 2, 1914 - Mary Worthington was born January 16, 1831 in Green County, Penn. On the 10th day of January 1856 she was united in marriage to William C. Christopher. From Pennsylvania Mr. and Mrs. Christopher moved to Peoria, IL., in March 1858, and from that place they removed to the farm near Galva this state, where they have made their home until about twelve years ago they came to Storm Lake.
Six years ago last February Mr. Christopher died and Mrs. Yaco made her home with her mother until she moved to Nebraska and Mother Christopher went there and has made her home with her daughter.
To Mr. and Mrs. Christopher six children were born all who survive them, save the 19 year old daughter who died more than thirty years ago. They are Columbus Christopher of Hastings, Nebr; Wm. F. of Primghar; John W. of Storm Lake; Mrs. Mary Yaco of Hastings; and Joseph A. of Parker, S.D.
Mrs. Christopher, with her daughter, Mrs. Yaco had just arrived in Parker, S.D. on a visit to her son Joseph, when the following morning she suffered a stroke of paralyses from which she never rallied, and on September 28th with all her children around her, she passed away to be with her loved ones and her loved Lord.
The body was brought from Parker, S.D., on Tuesday, September 29, accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. Yaco. Mr. and Mrs. Columbus Christopher, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Christopher, W.F. Christopher and Rev. H.P. Eberhart.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 2 o'clock at the home of John W. Christopher, by Rev. H.P. Eberhart of Parker, S.D., Rev. Johnson of Storm Lake being away to conference. The text was John 1-1:2 and "In My Father's House are many mansions, if it were not so I would have told you, I go to prepare a place for you and if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto Myself that where I am there ye may be also".
Many old time friends attended the service attesting the high esteem in which Mrs. Christopher was held by all. Mrs. Christopher was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, a Christian all her life long having been converted in early girlhood. The very testimony to one's Christian life is always given by those who know us best and the children of this dear saint, now men and women grown united as one voice in testifying to the beautiful life and character of their mother and she leaves to them some thing infinitely better than gold or silver or lands the rich heritage of a devout Christian Life. She was laid to rest beside her husband in the Storm Lake Cemetery.
