Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - Nov 11, 1921 - Storm Lake relatives and friends were shocked Friday to learn of the tragic death of Mrs Mildred North, formerly of this city and for some time nurse at the Swallum hospital, who passed away at the Clinic hospital at Worthington, MN Friday afternoon.

He death was caused from blood poisoning which resulted from wearing a colored mask to a Halloween party, the poison from the mask penetrating a small abrasion on her face and spreading rapidly through her system caused her death within a few hours.

The remains were brought to this city Saturday and funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist Episcopal church. Burial was made at the Storm Lake cemetery where her husband was interred.

Mrs North was well known as a capable and highly efficient nurse and was engaged in nursing at the Clinic hospital in Worthington at the time of her death.

Mildred Cole, daughter of Edgar J and Martha Cole was born at Newell, Iowa, Jan 28, 1889. When about 6 years of age, her parents removed from Newell to Manhatten (can not read) years, going from there to Storm Lake where they made their home.

Aug 24, 1909 Mildred was united in marriage to Paul William North. Two children were born to them: Pauline Alice and Paul Harold. Her husband passed away Oct 4, 1911, and was laid to rest at Storm Lake.

After the death of her husband, Mrs North made her home with her father for several years, then taking up the profession of nursing finally going to Worthington in March 1920. Here she and her daughter lived with Mr and Mrs C.O. Ford, where they received as tender care as could have been bestowed upon members of their own family.

As far as was possible with her other duties as nurse, she was also active in church work, being a member of the choir and helping in other branches. In her passing from our midst she will be greatly missed, her cheerful helpfulness winning her a place everywhere.

She leaves to mourn her death her father, Edgar J Cole; one brother, Clifford R Cole of Gillett Grove, Iowa; one sister Hazel Marie, wife of Allen C Blessing of Spencer; and her two children, Pauline and Harold.
