Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - Nov 1, 1918 - Mrs Mudge, wife of Private Earl Mudge of Camp Dodge, died at the Swallum hospital Wednesday evening, Oct 30, after a week's illness.

On Friday Oct 25, a son, the first born, came seemingly to brighten the life of Mrs Mudge, whose husband had answered the call of his country. But her condition from the beginning was not satisfactory and pneumonia developed complicating matters and all week she has been lying at the point of death. Private Mudge was granted a furlough and came home immediately but she failed to recognize him. The babe is strong and healthy.

Mrs Mudge is a daughter of Mr and Mrs Dick Grieme of near Galva and is about 23 years old. Her death has caused a great sadness in many households.

The funeral services will take place at the home of George Mudge four miles southeast of Storm Lake on Saturday afternoon.
