Storm Lake Pilot - Mar 7, 1929 page 1 - August Kast, a pioneer of Buena Vista county, passed away at Fort Morgan, CO, Friday March 1 at the age of 83 years. Interment was made at Storm Lake Monday afternoon.

Mr Kast is well known in this county having settled on a farm west of Storm Lake 55 years ago. He has a number of relatives in this section, including a son, O.B. Kast of Aurelia and the following nieces and nephews in Buena Vista county: B.C., R.C., Robert, Louis, and Lottie and Mary Kraemer. A brother-in-law, Fred Hausman, lives at Sioux City.

In recent years Mr Kast has resided at Brush and Fort Morgan, respectively. He has two sons in Colorado, Emil A at Fort Morgan and Chas F at Brush. His wife preceded him in death several years ago.

Funeral services were held at Fort Morgan with closing services at the Storm Lake Mausoleum.

When he first arrived in the US from Germany, Mr Kast was engaged in baking bread at Chicago, IL.
