Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - Mar 22, 1918 - Forrest Earl Long, the 11 years old son of Mr and Mrs Roy Long, died at the Swallum hospital, Saturday morning, March 16, 1918 after two weeks illness of typhoid pneumonia. From the very first his condition was regarded serious and every effort to spare him seemed to be of no avail.

He was born in Garrison, Iowa May 5, 1906, and came with his parents to Storm Lake from that place March 15, 1911. In September of that year he entered the Storm Lake public school and was in attendance when he was taken ill. Six months of his school life was spent in the South school. He was a member of the Baptist Sunday school.

He will be greatly missed by his parents, sister Ruby and baby brother, besides many other relatives and friends.

The funeral services were held in the Baptist church on Monday afternoon. Those from away who attended the rites were: Mr and Mrs William Long, grandparents from North English, Iowa, George Long of Fredericksburg, Mr and Mrs Jones of Sac City.
