April 23, 1952 - April 23, 2016Rieng Van Lo, age 64, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Saturday, April 23, 2016.
Rieng Lo, a son of Peung Van Lo and Nho Bachti Lo, was born on April 23, 1952, in Son La, Vietnam. He was a refugee from Laos, however, when he became a U.S. citizen.
He had a son, Kevin Lo, with his first wife. He, later, married Khamphou Mekdara (now deceased) in Storm Lake in 1996.
Rieng spent the past thirty-two years working at Tyson Foods in Storm Lake. Previously, he had worked as a CNA in Laos and at a refugee camp in Nongkhai, Thailand. After moving to the United States, he worked as a CNA at the Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, and at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
A social person, Rieng, always, enjoyed helping members of the Asian community in Storm Lake. A loyal friend to many, he will be remembered for his humorous nature and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Kevin (Marianne) Lo, of Ames, Iowa; his grandson, Nicolai Lo, of Ames, Iowa; his mother, Nho Bachti Lo, of Storm Lake, Iowa; and his siblings: Hak (Toui) Lo and Nicolas (Daravanh) Lo Van, of Storm Lake, Iowa; Noy (Naliphone), Pha (Thene), and Kit (Chanthachone) Lo, all of Des Moines, Iowa; Phunh (Julio) Soto, of McKinney, Texas, Tay (Phon) Lo, of Spencer, Iowa, and Dana (West) Broussard, of Port Arthur, Texas; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Rieng was preceded in death by his father Peung Lo; his wife, Khamphou; his sister, Tam Lothi; and his brother, Cheun Lo Van.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 28, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will take place Sunday, May 1, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at the Storm Lake Cemetery in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
