Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - Jun 25, 1920 - Mrs Eugene Knappenberger died at her home in this city Friday afternoon June 18 at the age of 59 years. She had been afflicted with anemia for some time but since winter had been much improved in health and her many friends did not know she was so near the end of her life. She was in bed only 3 days before her death.

The funeral was held at the Lakeside church on Sunday afternoon. The body was laid to rest in the Storm Lake cemetery beside that of her husband.

Those present from out of town were her 3 nephews, Robert, Frank and Arthur Rossman, all of Galt, Iowa; Mr and Mrs Eli Bean, Mrs Benjamin Bean, and Mrs Loretta Beach all of Fort Dodge; and Miss Alice Hopp of Rock Valley. The brothers and sisters of the deceased were not able to be present on account of the illness of their father, who is 103 years of age.

Louisa Rossman was born near Beloit, WI on Sept 28, 1861. At the age of 4 years she moved with her parents to Creston, IL where she lived up to the time of her marriage.

She was married to Eugene Knappenberger at Sycamore, IL on Jan 1, 1880 and lived there until the year of 1884 when they moved to a farm near Fort Dodge and in 1892 to a farm near Farnhamville. About 19 years ago they moved to Fort Dodge and in 1907 came to Storm Lake where she has since resided.

Mr and Mrs Knappenberger were the parents of 3 children: Mrs Roy Mullins, Mrs Forest Lichtenberg, and Joseph Knappenberger all of whom are living here. Mr Knappenberger died on Jan 25, 1914.

She leave to mourn her death besides her children, her father, who is 103 years old, two brothers and two sisters, all of whom reside at Creston. She also has two grandchildren.

Mrs Knappenberger had been ailing for a couple of years, being afflicted with anemia. She was very low last winter her but as spring came on she rallied and no one imagined that death was so near. She was called Friday afternoon, June 18, at 2:30.
