Storm Lake Register - July 1, 1926 - Waldo S Johnston of Fergus Falls, MN, son of Mr and Mrs D.M. Johnston of Storm Lake and well known and highly esteemed in this community where he spent the greater part of his life, passed away at the Wright hospital at Fergus Falls last Thursday afternoon following an operation and relatives and hosts of friends were deeply grieved to learn of his death.

Mr Johnston seemed in his usual health until about a week before his death when acute difficulties developed requiring a surgical operation. His condition became critical in a day or so and death resulted last Thursday.

Waldo S Johnson was born in Hayes township, Buena Vista county, Iowa Jan 13, 1884 and passed away Thursday June 24, 1926 at Fergus Falls, MN at the age of 42 years, 5 months, and 6 days.

In the spring of 1915 he went to Minnesota returning in the fall for his marriage to Irene C Smith on Dec 1, 1915. Mr and Mrs Johnston began their home life of his farm near Fergus Falls and he was one of the well known and highly respected citizens of Ottertail County, MN.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife and two small sons: Delmar Miller, age 7 and Robert Charles age 5; and his parents Mr and Mrs D.M. Johnston; two brothers: Claude Johnston of Paullina, Iowa and Frank Johnston of Des Moines; and two sisters: Mrs WW Wise of Storm Lake and Mrs H.L. Filer of Murdock, MN; and an adopted sister, Mrs Grace Jones of Storm Lake.

The body was brought to Storm Lake and funeral services were held from the Methodist church Monday afternoon. Interment was in Lakeview cemetery.
