Storm Lake Buena Vista Vidette - April 12, 1907 - page 1 - One of the saddest homecomings ever witnessed in Storm Lake was that of what was mortal of Miss Valle James. She had gone to Silver City, New Mexico last fall to spend the winter with her uncle, F.A. Jones and family. She had been in poor health for a number of years and it was hoped that the climate there would be beneficial.

About a month ago she was taken violently ill and suffered severe pain for some time but recovered and was able to be about again. Saturday March 29 she had recovered sufficient to be able to attend a small party. Sunday she was about the house as usual and Monday she complained of being tired and remained in bed.

From that time until she died, Wednesday morning, April 3rd, 1907 she suffered no pain at all but seemed to be sleepy. She died without a struggle or pain, just the calm sleep changing into the sleep from which the body never wakes but the soul goes to its Maker.

Mrs F.A. Jones arrived here Sunday with the remains and the body was taken to the home of Mr and Mrs G.S. Coman for the friends to see and look for the last time on the features of one who had been with them in all their happy times.

The funeral was held Monday afternoon. The seven girls who graduated with her in the class of 1903 were present. She was carried to her last resting place by six of the young men who had been members of the social set in which she moved and most of whom had grown up with her.

Valle was born in Storm Lake Nov 28, 1881. She lived here all her life. She had never been away from her parents any length of time until this winter.
