Mrs Hyer was one of the early pioneer settlers of Buena Vista county, coming to Newell in 1870, where she lived for two years and then moved to Storm Lake where she has since resided. She has been lovingly cared for by her daughter, Miss Emma Marshall.
She was good and kind mother, patient in suffering and her going is a great loss to her daughters.

Relatives from out of town who attended the services were Mr and Mrs John Folk of Gilmore City, Mrs F Frederickson of Rolfe, Mr and Mrs Marion Folk and Miss Rose Folk of Humboldt, and Leonard Bridge of Audubon.
