The Laurens Sun - April 17, 1930 - Erastus Huntley was born at Brome Corner, Canada January 11, 1851. He came to the United States and settled in New England. November 29, 1883 he was united in marriage to Miss Ella Sheen at Lowell, Massachusetts. They soon after returned to Canada where their only child, Mary, now Mrs. E.S. Weart was born. In 1886, the Huntley family returned to the United States and settled at Storm Lake, Iowa where Mr. Huntley filled the position of city engineer.
On account of defective hearing and failing health on the part of Mr. Huntley, he and his wife have made their home with their daughter, Mrs. E.S. Weart since 1915.
Because of his defective hearing, Mr. Huntley was of a retiring disposition and was not known to many in Laurens and because of this infirmity he got little out of church services during later years although he and his wife belonged to the Presbyterian church in Storm Lake.
The last illness of Mr. Huntley was brief, lasting only a week. His death was not expected by the family. Thursday morning April 10th at 10 he died, aged 80 years, 2 months and 29 days.
He is survived by the widow and daughter, Mrs E.S. Weart and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Weart home Saturday afternoon. Burial was made at Storm Lake.
