Storm Lake Register - February 10, 1942 - Funeral services for Mrs Delia Hughes of Sheldon, former resident of Storm Lake who passed away Friday morning at her home in Sheldon were held Sunday afternoon at Lakeside Presbyterian church. Burial was in the Storm Lake cemetery.

Delia Hughes was born in Massachusetts on March 6, 1856, the daughter of Mr and Mrs Joseph Hughes. In 1874 she was married to Peter Hughes and shortly afterwards moved to Iowa locating in Storm Lake at which place they resided for 32 years.

The family then moved to Sibley where they lived for a few years after which they moved to a farm northwest of Sheldon. In 1919 she moved to Sheldon. For several years she and a son have operated a lake resort on East Okoboji. Every summer she with her son went to the lake returning to her home in the fall. Last fall her health began to fail and about 6 weeks ago she suffered a change for the worse. She passed away Friday morning Feb 6.

Four sons and two daughters were born to Mr and Mrs Hughes. They are Albert and Irving of Sheldon; Fred who died in 1925; and Jay who passed away in infancy; Mrs Nora Buchanan of Sheldon and Mrs William Eberline of George.

Her husband preceded her in death several years ago.
