Storm Lake Register - August 31, 1922 - Funeral services for Burton Hollenbeck, who died at his home in Peoria, IL Wednesday morning of last week after an illness extending over two years, were held at the Lakeside Presbyterian church in this city last Friday afternoon. Interment was made in the Storm Lake cemetery beside the parents who had proceeded him.
Burton Hollenbeck was born at Rockford, IL August 7, 1873 and died at his home in Peoria, IL Wednesday August 23, 1922 at the age of 49 years and 18 days. When about 10 years of age he came with his parents, Mr and Mrs Peter W Hollenbeck to Storm Lake and located on a farm near here.
In 1900 the family moved to town and he later attended Buena Vista college, the sessions then being held in the old opera house. Later Mr Hollenbeck and his brother, Ben W had the implement business here and continued in the business for 4 years. He then took a position as salesman for the P & O Implement company and left Storm Lake about 11 years ago. He was at Cedar Rapids for several years and later went to Peoria, IL. He gave up his work about 2 years ago on account of his health.
In the year 1902 he was married to Miss Christie Johnson of Gilbert, Iowa. Besides his wife he leaves to mourn his loss his 2 brothers, Ben Hollenbeck of this city and Earl Hollenbeck of Aberdeen, SD. His parents died some years ago.
The remains were brought to Storm Lake Friday morning accompanied by the wife and Ben Hollenbeck who had been in Peoria the past several weeks.
