Storm Lake Buena Vista Vidette - June 30, 1911 - Sunday evening, June 25, death came as a relief to the intense suffering of Mrs Mary Harwick who had been ill for almost a year and in a critical condition for the past 6 months. All through the hot weather of the past week death was expected, but He chose to come with the severe electric storm of Sunday night making a striking contrast between the peaceful sleep that he brought to the sufferer within and the warring elements without.

Mary Norton was born at Phoenix, NY Aug 27, 1841. She was married to Thomas J Harwick at Phoenix June 10, 1860. The resided there until 1876 when they removed to Beloit, WI, residing there for 1 year and coming to Storm Lake among the early settlers in 1877.

They lived on a farm near Storm Lake until 1886 and left there to go to Moorefield, Ne, where they resided until 1895. From 1895 to 1901 they resided in Portland and Forest Grove, Oregon and then removed to Oakland, CA where Mr Harwick died in 1903.

In 1906 Mrs Harwick returned to Storm Lake with her daughter, Mrs A.E. Webb, and since her daughters death has continued to make her home here with her son-in-law and grandson.

She was the last survivor of her immediate family and left as surviving relatives only 2 brothers and four grandsons. She was a lady of most excellent character and qualities and possessed the faculty of acquiring a large circle of friends.

The funeral services were held in the Methodist church Tuesday and interment was made in the Storm Lake cemetery where the mother now rests side by side with her only daughter.
