The Storm Lake paper has a long and detailed obituary but the on line copy is illegible - Storm Lake Pilot Tribune, Storm Lake, Iowa, April 13, 1900 page 4.
Humston New Era - April 18, 1900 - Ft. Dodge April 12 — The body of Truman. T. Harker, cashier of the First National bank at Storm Lake, was found in ten inches of water at 12 o'clock p.m.
Shortly after the closing of banking hours Harker took his shot gun and started for the lake to hunt ducks. At ten o'clock his family became alarmed at his long absence and aroused the neighborhood. A searching party was organized which found his inanimate body in the water, partly covered by reeds and rushes. The supposition is that he had a stroke of apoplexy, falling into the water, and there being no one with him, was drowned. Truman Harker was one of the most prominent and popular business men of Storm Lake and fraternal orders.
