Storm Lake Pilot - March 13, 1889 - Died in Storm Lake, Iowa, March 9, 1889, Antoinette, wife of Fred A. Haines, aged 36 years and 13 days.
The deceased was born in Boston, Massachusetts, February 24, 1853, moved to Storm Lake in 1878, and was married October 19, 1881.
She leaves behind her a young husband, a daughter aged three years and a baby boy only a few days old. For the past ten years, Mrs. Haines had been a great sufferer, and especially so during the past few years, but through it all she was patient, uncomplaining and lovable, drawing to her the sincere friendship of all with whom she came in contact. She was unusually beloved, both by her own family and by that of her husband with whom she had made her home.
She united with the Universalist church about two years ago and had an abiding faith in her future. Before death she made all preparation for it, requesting that her little darlings be cared for by her husband's parents, and bidding all about in her farewell for only a few short years at most she patiently waited the coming of the silent messenger, and as the light to her earthly eyes faded away she beheld the dawning of a brighter light beyond the river. The writer distinctly remembers another death twenty-six, years ago when a mother bade adieu to a husband and four little ones, and with almost the same words left a world of pain and suffering.
The funeral occurred from the home, conducted by Rev. Ralph, and amid many flowers, music and hosts of friends her earthly tabernacle was consigned to the tomb. She is at rest, and this will in a great measure allay the deep grief of those who mourn.
