Storm Lake Buena Vista Vidette - April 15, 1904 - A sad occurrence was the sudden death of Mrs. Eric Erickson which occurred at the home of Mrs. Carrie Boen, early Tuesday morning. Mrs. Erick Erickson and her sister, Miss Betty Johnson, who lives in the east part of town, went to Sioux City, Wednesday of last week to attend the funeral of their nephew, Frank Johnson. They returned Monday noon.
Mrs. Erickson complained of not feeling very well and as she thought that Miss Johnson's house might be damp suggested that she remain all night with Mrs. Boen, as her husband, who lives near the Catholic cemetery, would not come in till the next day.
Several times during the night, Mrs. Boen heard her groaning but when she questioned her, she was each time told that everything was all right, last hearing a peculiar rattle she again called and reached out and took hold of her. Feeling no response she got up and lit the light and found Mrs. Erickson dead.
She went at once to Miss Johnson's home. The body was taken to Miss Johnson's home after Mr. Erickson was summoned. The funeral services will take place at the Swedish Lutheran church today, Friday, conducted by Rev. CJ Lundel, of Alta, and the body will be laid rest in the Storm Lake cemetery.
Sophia Charlotte Johnson was born in Sweden, February 3, 1844. She came to this country when a young girl and was married in Pennsylvania to Eric Erickson.
Her husband, adopted daughter, Miss Johnson, and one other sister in Sweden are the only surviving relatives.
The bereaved family have the sympathy of all in their affliction.
