Janet Smith
August 15, 1951 - March 16, 2016Janet Smith, age 64, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at her home in Storm Lake.
Janet Kay Stimson, a daughter of Noel and Helen (Hoffman) Stimson, was born on August 15, 1951, in Jefferson, Iowa. She attended and graduated from Storm Like High School. Then, she married Timothy M. Smith. Subsequently, they were blessed with three boys, Todd Anthony, Tyler Noel, and Jason Michael.
A faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake, Janet, also, belonged to the guild. An avid reader, she enjoyed golfing in her younger years as well. She loved taking annual winter vacations to Mexico or going on day or even week long adventures on her motorcycle. Because she liked to shop, she, always, kept herself and her home stylish.
Janet kept a welcoming home and always looked forward to hosting friends and family every 4th of July. Most of all, however, she cherished the time she spent with her family, especially when visiting her children and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Timothy Smith, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her children, Todd (Jen) Smith, of Scandia, Minnesota, Tyler (Rebecca) Smith, of Des Moines, Iowa, and Jason (Hollie) Smith, of Ankeny, Iowa; her grandchildren, Chloe and Cooper Smith, of Ankeny, Iowa, Emily Smith, of Fargo, North Dakota, and Elizabeth Smith, of Woodbury, Minnesota; and her sister, Diane (Jim) Nichols, of Casa Grande, Arizona; as well as extended family members and friends.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Noel; her brother, Phil Stimson; her great nephew, Cody Anderson; her father- and mother-in-law, Michael and Mary Smith; her brother-in-law, T. Q. Smith; and her sister-in-law, Rebecca Smith.
A Funeral Mass will be offered Monday, March 21, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will take place Sunday, March 20, 2016, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
