March 14, 1918 - Storm Lake Register - A large company of relatives gathered in Storm Lake last Saturday to pay their last tribute of respect and love to Mrs Augusta Dushinski when funeral services were held in the afternoon at her late home, conducted by Rev B.T. Lochner of the Ev. Lutheran church. After a service of appropriate music and a message of comforting words from the pastor the body was laid to rest in the Storm Lake cemetery.

Relatives who came here to attend the funeral were a sister, Mrs. Henry Detloff of LeMars; two sisters-in-law Mrs. Gus Pech of LeMars and Mrs Robert Pech of Atlanta, Illinois; five nieces, Mrs. Will Henrich or Seney, Mrs. Harry Rintz, Mrs. Will Eyers, Miss Carrie Pech and Mrs. Sam Uthey of LeMars; four nephews: Henry Detloff, Arthur Detloff, Ed Detloff of LeMars and Arthur Pech, of Atlanta, Illinois. Mr. and Mrs. Matt Moyers were here from Sioux City to attend the funeral.

The children, who were all present, are Mrs. L. Christofferson of Dubuque, who was accompanied by her husband and two daughters; Mrs. Jesse Hixon with her husband, of Monterey, Minn.; Mrs. M.P. Whitney, of Waterloo; Mrs. Minnie Meinhard of Storm Lake; and the sons E.W. Dushinski and wife, of Monterey, Minn., and A.C. Dushinski, of Ormsby, Minn. Three step children are Fred Biggins, of Storm Lake; Mrs. Rosa Woods, of Redding, Cal, and M.W. Dushinski and wife of Cherokee.

Mrs. Augusta Dushinski, nee Pech, was born January 14, 1842, in Tembelberg, Prussia, Germany. In her early life she was deprived of her parents and was compelled as a young girl to earn her daily bread. On January 22, 1866, she entered holy wedlock with Carl Dushinski, who proceeded her into eternity three years ago on the 16th of February. With him she was permitted to spend forty nine years in wedded life. Unto them were born nine children, of
which two died in tender infancy and one at the youthful age of twenty-two years.

In the year 1873 the Dushinski family emigrated to this country, settling In Bloomington, Illinois. There they remained but three years, when they took up their staff and wandered to Iowa, making Storm Lake their place of abode since 1876.

Mrs Dushinski was in failing health during the entire winter, but was bedfast only the last five weeks. At 5:30 last Wednesday morning she was called to her heavenly rest, having reached the age of 75 years, 1 month and 24 days. She was a charter member of the local Ev. Lutheran church, sacrificing her home for the first Lutheran services in this town, and to this church she adhered to the end. Thus also the entire congregation mourns over her departure.
