March 2, 1923 - Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - On the morning of February 23rd, 1923, Mrs. G.S. Coman passed from this life. The community was particularly grieved at the death of Mrs. Coman for in her passing Storm Lake loses another of its pioneers one who has been a respected citizen, delighted in all things good that came to the town. Mrs. Coman had been failing for the past two or three years and for the last six or seven months has been under the care of her doctor and a trained nurse.

Leora Angeline Wirick, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Wirick, was born October 22nd, 1860 in Mendota, Illinois. In the fall of 1870 her parents moved to Storm Lake, which at that time was a mere village on the prairie. Leora Wirick was one of the first class of boys and girls to attend the Storm Lake Public school, but three members of the class survive. At an early age she was united with the Universalist church.

Oct 9th, 1878 she was united in marriage with G.S. Coman, a druggist and who later took up photography. They established a home in Storm Lake and maintained their residence here until death. Since Mr Comans death Nov 11, 1913, Mrs Coman has continued her residence in the city, having spent practically her entire life in Storm Lake, having watched the towns entire development, her heart was naturally bound up in the welfare of the city. It was her delight to spend hours on the shore of the lake watching the lights and shadows play upon its surface.

Five members of her family have preceded her in death: her husband, her father and mother, and her two brothers: Frank L Wirick and Guy G Wirick.

She leaves to mourn her loss one sister, Mrs Aurelia Blair Lawrence of Sioux City, and three nephews: Claude, Howard, and John Lawrence; and two nieces, Mrs Marten Mulford and Miss Coral Lawrence.

Funeral services were held from the home Sunday afternoon. T.R. Brader, Conrad Hix, A.E. Brunson, C.F. Keister, Ira Canon, and Ben Hollenback acted as pall bearers.

Among those from out of town present were: Dr and Mrs Lawrence from Sioux City, Mr and Mrs Marton Mulford from Sioux City, Guy Wirick from Perry, Iowa, Mr and Mrs Albert House of Spencer, Dr and Mrs G.C. McKay of Sheldon, C.E. Wiley of Sioux City.
