Storm Lake Buena Vista Vidette - May 13, 1887 - Died at the residence of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L.J. Chamberlain, Sunday, May 8th, 1887, of diabetes, Alva Chamberlain, aged 24 years, 10 months and 8 days.
Deceased was born in Blackhawk county, Iowa, June 30, 1860. Came to this county with his parents in 1870 and settled on the west bank of the lake, in Hayes township. Was married to a Miss Snyder about three years ago, and leaves a wife and one child, a daughter, to mourn.
For the past year he has been in poor health and unable to preform any heavy work. Last winter he joined the M.E. church in this city and has led an exemplary and Christian life.
The funeral services were held at the M.E. church, Rev. H.P. Dudley officiating, who preached from James 4-17. "Whereas we know not what will be on the morrow, for what is your life; it is ever a vapor that appeareth for a little time and then vanisheth away."
The remains were deposited in the Storm Lake cemetery, followed by a large concourse of bereaved relatives and sorrowing friends. THE VIDETTE extends to the bereaved wife and parents its profound sympathy in this, their hour of sorrow.
The family of the late Alva Chamberlain desire us to extend their thanks to the many friends and neighbors who so kindly lent their aid and sympathy during the sickness and last sad rites of the deceased husband and son.
