When only a boy his parents moved to Stephens County not far from Freeport, IL, where he lived until his early manhood and then moved in a covered wagon, the only means of travel in Northern Iowa 50 years ago, to Marble Rock, Floyd County, where he joined others in the frontier settlement.

He then became interested in business with his cousin Mr C Brubacher at Waterloo, Iowa, where he remained until about 30 years ago, when he moved to Storm Lake, Iowa where he died Dec 21, 1906, being almost 79 years of age.

Mr Brubacher has not been actively engaged in business for a number of years, living a retired and happy life with his family and friends. He was always interested and kept himself in touch with all the issues of importance relating to the nation and the activities of the state. His business associates and those who knew him best have always been his warmest personal friends.

He leaves his wife, Mrs Jessie Brubacher and six children: Mrs James Toy of Sioux City; Alva Brubacher of Corona, CA; Ivrving C Brubacher and Mrs L.A. Mears of Sioux City; and Ralph and Rodger of Storm Lake.

The funeral was held at the house Sunday afternoon, Rev Cumin conducting the service. All the children, except Alva of California, were present. The body was laid to rest in the Storm Lake cemetery. The funeral was one of the largest ever held here thus showing the esteem and respect in which this pioneer settler was held by his neighbors, friends and acquaintances.
