February 5, 1925 - Storm Lake Register - Mrs Abijah Brown, a resident of Storm Lake for many years and well known and highly esteemed in the county, passed away at Marshall, Michigan last Thursday January 29 following an illness of some nature and her death is mourned by many relatives and friends.
Harriet Brown was born at Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada April 5th, 1825 and died at Marshall, Michigan January 29, 1925 at the age of 79 years, 9 months, and 14 days.
At the age of 15 she moved with her parents to Amboy, Illinois and she grew to young womanhood and received her education in the schools at that place.
In 1875 she was united in marriage to Mr Abijah Brown and they lived at Amboy for about 6 months after their marriage, when they moved to Marshalltown, Iowa where they lived until the year of 1880 when they came to Storm Lake. For more that 40 years they lived on their farm near Storm Lake and in town. Last May they left for Marshall, Michigan where Mrs Brown's death occurred last Thursday.
Mrs Brown is survived by an adopted son, Henry Brown; three sisters: Mrs Mary Gordon of Storm Lake, Mrs Elizabeth Clark of Sioux Rapids; and Mrs Amanda Brown of Storm Lake; and two brothers: J.H. Brown of Storm Lake and Richard Brown of Amboy, Illinois. The later being among the relatives in attendance at the funeral and other relatives and many friends.
The body was brought to Storm Lake for burial. Funeral services were held from the Hughes Undertaking Chapel Tuesday afternoon. Interment was in the Storm Lake cemetery.
