Storm Lake Buena Vista Vidette - February 18, 1897 - Monday afternoon, Feb 15, Mr Smith Benjamin died at his home in Washington township, northeast of Storm Lake. He had been sick for somewhat over a year but had been considered better of late. However, he was taken worse a week ago Tuesday evening and from that time he grew steadily worse. He died quietly, simply slept away into the better land.

Mr Benjamin was born in Vermont, Feb 24, 1824. He spent most of his life in New York in the vicinity of Whitehall. From there he removed to Storm Lake in 1882. Since that time he had resided on his farm one and one half miles northeast of Storm Lake.

He leaves a wife and four children - Mrs Amy Benjamin, Mrs Henry W Storia, Mr E.S. Benjamin of Storm Lake, and Mrs T.A. Patterson of Whitehall, NY, and Mrs Henry Harrington of Titus, PA.

These mourn a loss which only those who have gone through similar experiences can appreciate. He was highly respected by all the community. His life was an inspiration to his family and friends. The members of his family have the sympathy of all the community.
