Mrs. Elmer Bjorklund
January 4, 1898 - January 5, 1970Emma Johnson Bjorklund, daughter of Charles G. and Anna Johnson, was born in Colfax Township, Fonda, on January 4, 1898. On January 5, 1970, she passed away at the Buena Vista County Hospital at the age of 72 years and one day.
During most of her early life, she resided in the Fonda area. On August 25, 1949, she married Elmer Bjorklund at Albert City. In March 1950, she and her husband moved to a farm southwest of Marathon where they lived until January 5, 1968, when they moved to their home in Albert City.
Baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church at Fonda, she, later, transferred to the Evangelical Covenant Church in Albert City.
She was preceded in death by a twin brother and two brothers in infancy.
Those left to mourn her passing include her husband, Elmer; her brother and sisters-in-law; her nieces and nephews; her cousins; and a host of neighbors and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services were held January 8, 1970, at the Evangelical Covenant Church at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Willis Adell officiating. Organist was Mrs. Clifford Shold. A quartet composed of Avery Shold, Clifford Shold, Myrle Peterson, and Maurice Peterson with Mrs. Maurice Peterson accompanying furnished the music.
Bearers were Ruben Anderson, Burnett Nordine, Jim McLaughlin, Harold Bloom, Jerry Barber, and Elwood Loving. Interment followed in Fairfield Cemetery near Albert City with the Nelson Funeral Home in charge.
