Donald Keith Bringle
December 4, 1946 - January 6, 2016

Donald Keith Bringle, 69, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at the VA Community Living Center in Des Moines.

Don was born on December 4, 1946, in Tucumcari, New Mexico, to George and Maurine (Warner) Bringle. In 1966, he graduated from Newell Providence High School. A Sergeant in the United States Army, he served from 1967 to 1970, including one year in Vietnam. On August 1, 1970, he married Kathy Landgraf at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early, Iowa. He graduated from Buena Vista College in 1976 with a degree in Business Management.

He spent most of his career in sales. Don and Kathy owned Don's Foodland, the local grocery store in Sioux Rapids, Iowa, for nine years before moving to the Des Moines area. He retired in 2009. A very energetic incessant talker, he stayed active after retiring with three part-time sales jobs. He, also, served as a member of the Dallas County Commission of Veterans Affairs Board and as the Commander of the Waukee VFW Post 11517.

Otherwise, Don loved spending time with family and friends. Always on the move, he attended his local grandkids' sporting events as well as other activities. He would fly to DC to see the East Coast Bringles, drive to Omaha to see his granddaughter perform, meet with a buddy on the golf course, or head to Ames to watch the Cyclones play. He was also a die-hard Cubs fan. Wherever a crowd gathered, he would find himself right in the middle of it, telling a story or talking about his family. Everywhere he went, he would run into someone he knew.

Don is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Kathy, of Waukee; his sons, Mike Bringle, and his wife, Jerrie, also of Waukee, Iowa, and David Bringle, and his wife, Tara, of Washington, D.C.; his daughter, Amy Marcotte, and her friend, Brian, of Omaha, Nebraska; his grandchildren: Halle, Jacob, Kaitlyn, Lincoln, Luke, Penelope, and Wyatt; his sister-in-law, Judy Bringle (widow of his deceased brother Chuck), of Littleton, Colorado; his sisters, Kate Bringle, and her partner, Maureen, of Arroyo Grande, California, and Marti Christensen, and her husband, Duane, of Missouri Valley, Iowa; and his brother, Scott Bringle, and his wife, Rhonda, of Shakopee, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Maurine Bringle, and his brother, Charles Bringle.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 8, 2016, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waukee where a vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Contributions may be made to the V.F.W. in Waukee. Online condolences will be welcomed at IlesCares.com. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 9, 2016, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waukee. A private burial will follow at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Van Meter on Monday, January 11, 2016.
