Chris (Wiley) Tomford
December 1, 1961 - January 3, 2016

Chris (Wiley) Tomford, age 54, of Early, Iowa, died on Sunday, January 3, 2016, in Holstein, Iowa.

Chris Wiley, a daughter of David Arthur and Irene (Anderson) Wiley, was born on December 1, 1961, in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Baptized and later confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Newell, she attended school at Newell Providence where she graduated in 1980. She, then, continued her education at Iowa Central Community College where she earned a degree in social work.

On August 23, 1996, Chris married Kirk Tomford at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Subsequently, they were blessed with two daughters, Tiffany and Lindsay, and a step-son, Joe.

Throughout her life, Chris worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CAN) at various nursing homes. She, also, worked at the Westside Café in Newell. More recently, she was employed by the Storm Lake High School as a cook. She enjoyed her job and always liked to watch the kids grow and mature from 9th to 12th grade.

Chris enjoyed doing crafts, driving around the countryside to look at nature, and attending picnics and outdoor concerts. A big sports fan, she, especially, liked track and baseball. She will be remembered for loving her cats and dogs. Most of all, however, she cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren and the mini vacations she took with her sisters once a year. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Tiffany (Jeff) Titus, of Cherokee, Iowa, and Lindsay (Chris) Handy, of Anthon, Iowa; her step-son, Joe (Freedom) Bunkers; her grandchildren: Ashtyn, Tarynn, and William Titus; Jaxson and Max Bunkers; and one highly anticipated grandbaby on the way; her brother, Mike Wiley, of Cherokee, Iowa; and her sisters: Colleen (Dan) Marchant, of Buckeye, Arizona, Bev (Paul) Sangwin, of Aurelia, Iowa, and Barb (Dean) Phillips, of Alta, Iowa; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Chris was preceded in death by her parents, David and Irene Wiley; her husband, Kirk Tomford; an infant brother, Steven Wiley; her brother, Mark Wiley; her sister, Cheryl Bruns; and her niece, Kerri Sangwin; as well as by many aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 9, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will follow at a later date. Visitation will take place Friday, January 8, 2016, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
