July 25, 1919 - November 12, 2015Maxine M. Lenz, age 96, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Thursday, November 12, 2015, at the Newell Good Samaritan Society in Newell.
Maxine Mae Rukes, a daughter of Earl and Leslie (Enright) Rukes, was born on July 25, 1919, in Buena Vista County, Iowa.
Baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith, Maxine attended school at St. Mary’s Catholic School where she, in due course, graduated. On July 7, 1941, she married John Lenz in Storm Lake. They were, subsequently, blessed with four children: Robert, Sharon, Steve, and Mike. After her husband’s death, she went to work in retail where she remained until the age of 72.
A member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake and an avid reader, Maxine, also, loved working in her yard. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Robert (Marilyn) Lenz, of Odebolt, Iowa, Sharon Wunschel, of Early, Iowa, Steve Lenz, of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Mike (Heather) Lenz, of Newell, Iowa; ten grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; as well as extended family members and friends.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; her grandson, T.J. Wunschel; her brothers, Robert and Donald; and her sister, Pearl.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 14, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Early. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
