Judith C. Yager
November 2, 1942 - October 3, 2015Judith Coleen (Lange) Yager was born to Albert Claus Henry and Irene Louise Bumann Lange on November 2, 1942, in Storm Lake. Raised on a farm near Albert City, she attended school there until the ninth grade when the family moved to Storm Lake. In 1960, she graduated from Storm Lake High School. Then, she worked for a short time at the Buena Vista County Hospital. Shortly thereafter, however, she followed her brother, LeRoy, to California.
There her brother introduced her to one of his co-workers, Michael James "Jim" Yager. After a whirl wind courtship of three months, they married on December 31, 1960. They, always, did say, "Everyone celebrates their anniversary."
Judy continued working as a secretary for the CEO of United Technologies, Aerospace Division. She, thoroughly, enjoyed this position during the early 1960s with all the excitement and advancements in the space program.
In 1967, Judy decided to resign from the public work force to take on the important job of raising her three children, Christie, David, and Michael, Jr.
Desiring a quieter life style, they moved from the Bay area of California to Oregon in 1972. There, they found a small acreage where they could raise a few animals and have a garden, but later they opted for Christmas trees.
As their grandchildren came along, Judy provided daycare for five of their six grandchildren.
Judy had beaten cancer twice before, so this fight was just another she tried to conquer. She, however, lost her courageous battle against lung cancer on October 3, 2015, in Tualatin, Oregon. She is survived by Jim, her husband of fifty-four years, her daughter, Christie, and her husband, Mark Thorsrud; her sons, David, and his wife, Shannon, and Michael J. Yager, Jr.; her grandson, Jerry Yager, and his wife, Chelsea; her granddaughters, Andi, Maryssa, and Jamie Yager; and Tara and Eryn Thorsrud; her three sisters, Jan, and her husband, Harold Redenbaugh, Vee, and her husband, Bill Tutt, of Storm Lake, and Linda Cress, of Bloomington, Minnesota; and her sister-in-law, Phyllis Lange, of California; as well as by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death her by parents and her brothers, LeRoy and Melvin Lange.
No service will be held per Judy’s request.
