November 8, 1920 - September 14, 2015Eldon Carlson, age 94, of Spirit Lake, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2015, at Wel-Cov Assisted Living in Spirit Lake.
Eldon Morris Carlson, a son of Erick and Esther (Anderson) Carlson, was born on November 8, 1920, in Lincoln Lee Township [sic], Iowa.
Eldon married Frances Mueller, of Peterson, Iowa, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They made their home in rural Marathon, where they farmed and raised their family. After retiring in 1989, they moved to Spirit Lake.
Eldon was a member of First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji, Iowa. He enjoyed golfing, boating, and anything dealing with aviation. He liked his coffee time with his family and friends and traveling south in the winter with his wonderful wife. In addition, he found great joy and pride in his seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Larry (Dee) Carlson, of DePere, Wisconsin, Bob Carlson, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, and John (Kim) Carlson, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; his grandchildren, Adam (Ashley), Julia, Michelle, Nick (Kasey), Wade (Jamie), and Weston (Lilly) Carlson; and Wendy (Steve) Krupke; and his great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Cooper (sons of Adam Carlson), Ella and Zoey Frances (daughters of Wade Carlson), Brody, Cali, and Lydia, (children of Weston Carlson); and Alex and Logan (sons of Wendy Krupke); as well as other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Erick and Esther; his wife, Frances; his sister, Vivian; and his brothers, Don and Ernie.
A funeral service for Eldon will be held Monday, September 21, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji. Burial will follow at Lakeview Gardens Cemetery in Spirit Lake. Visitation will be on Sunday, September 20, 2015 after 2:00 p.m. with the family present from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford.
