Kenneth F. Koth, age 81, of Storm Lake, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2015, at the Good Samaritan Society of Newell.

Kenneth Franklin Koth, son of Albert G. Koth and Adelia (Della) Grienke Koth, was born in Storm Lake, Iowa, on February 1, 1934. Baptized on February 20, 1934, and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake on June 20, 1948, he became an active member at St. John’s Lutheran Church where he served as an usher, sang in the choir, and played dartball. Currently, however, he belonged to Grace Lutheran church in Storm Lake.

On June 29, 1969, Ken married Marcella Juilfs at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pomeroy, Iowa. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Jason Douglas and Julius Albert.

A lifelong resident of Storm Lake and Lakeside, Ken received his education in the Storm Lake schools. Ken was employed at the canning factory in Storm Lake until he entered the United States Navy in 1955. He was stationed at the Marine Corps Air Station El Toro in California after basic training. Following his military service, he was employed by the Buena Vista County ASCS, the City of Storm Lake, and then, the Professional Services Group until he retired in January, 1996.

Throughout his life, Ken had several interests and hobbies. A member of the Truesdale Horseshoe Club, he, also, liked hunting pheasants, but most of all he enjoyed fishing. In addition, he cherished time spent with his grandchildren.

Ken is survived by his wife, Marcella; his sons, Jason (Sarah) Koth, of Polk City, Iowa, and Julius Koth, of Urbandale, Iowa; his grandchildren, Levi and Larissa Koth; his sister, Elizabeth Halling, of Raytown, Missouri; his sister-in-law, Glenice Koth, of Holstein, Iowa; and his sister- and brother-in-law, Linda and Royce Case, of Sac City, Iowa; as well as by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert G. and Della Koth; his brothers, Albert H. and George; his sisters, Dora Tillman, Leona Delbridge, and Loretta and Viola Koth; his brothers-in-law, Donald Delbridge, Russell Tillman and Blayne Halling; his sister-in-law, Joyce Koth Haldin; and his parents-in-law, Henry D. and Lena Juilfs.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 14, 2015, at 1:30 PM at the Grace Lutheran Church of Storm Lake with the Rev. Bradley W. Ketcham officiating. Burial will follow at the Storm Lake Cemetery with military rites conducted by the AmVets Post #66 of Storm Lake. A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2015, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Alta.
